The Groundling

The Groundling is a play in two acts by Marc Palmieri. The play is a play about a play. It’s about Bob and Karen and their unhappy life, where they constantly argue with each other. My concept for the cover and the inlay was ”trapped”.

Bob and Karen are trapped in their world, in the space and time, in their habits, in their fights but also in the play itself. I used the garage, where the play is set, as a metaphor for their life that is like a prison. In the book and cover I try to describe the feeling of being trapped and how Bob and Karen try to get away until Bob writes the play and they decide to get divorced.
